Camera is a very useful invention because imagine if we can’t capture an image or video nowadays, with the fact that almost all popular content on the internet is either picture or video. It is also becoming prominent that most people are carrying a camera in their pocket and yes, this is the one integrated with your smartphone. Nowadays pictures and videos captured with smartphones are getting better and even more professional that require less to no effort in post editing.
But, it doesn’t mean that digital cameras are losing their enthusiasts as you can still find many new releases yet, not as hyped as they used to be. One of the latest additions into the digital camera family is the action camera and as you may already know, this was once extremely popular several years back, especially with the rising number of internet users who are sharing their content through available platforms. They are still a good option for anyone who wants to have a secondary camera.
Action camera is pretty similar to the digital camera we may have in the past but different on the size or user interface. The Most important part is their image quality and there are lots of components affecting the performance and quality yet, to shop simpler user can check which cameras with their preferred resolution; usually they start at 1080p on the entry-level and they can go up to 4K on the high-end range such as popular option GoPro Hero 8 Vs DJI Osmo Action.
Next is their features related to shooting or image capturing because you will find many of them that can help in the process. The more expensive they are, such as new cameras from GoPro, the more features integrated in the unit which some are going to assist you in making mesmerizing footage or charming photos. The most important in our opinion is the image stabilizer however, as it aids the shakiness when you record while in motion.
If you are making or recording lots of videos, another factor worth to mention is their microphone but, for best audio quality, even for high-end action cameras, it is still best to add an external microphone while for casual recording such as while you are doing some sports or traveling, the built-in microphone is usually sufficient. For active people, you may want to add an extra case to protect the device, especially on the affordable range as they are not waterproof.

About AKASO Brave 4 and EK7000 Pro
Now when you already know how the camera should be or have an image of what your camera will be, it is the time to see what the market has to offer as you will find so many good options in the market. It is easy to just grab the most expensive and highly rated camera but the more difficult part is getting the best option for the budget. We all know that prices often make the product and cheap cameras are more often difficult to meet expectations.
However, it doesn’t mean we can’t get a good camera in an affordable price range because the options are still there and among those brands that will give you reliable choices, AKASO is what many of us may already hear. They are indeed not as famous as GoPro or Sony and DJI but for users who want to keep the budget low, they do have various interesting options to consider. Performance or image quality wise they are comparable to each other.
If you plan to spend less than $100, the AKASO Brave 4 and EK7000 Pro are two amazing choices to buy. They are very affordable and while we can’t hope to see much here based on the price point, if you are going to casually record video for fun and looking for a camera as a secondary device to help your smartphone. In our opinion you can go well with any of these cameras but the image or impression can be slightly different.
What we want to mention is while the two AKASO Brave 4 and EK7000 Pro are labelled as 4K camera, they are not going to look exactly like 4K we have in high-end smartphones today so we need to adjust the expectation. They are also best for recording and photo shooting outdoors under natural light because otherwise the two are not able to deliver good results. If you have a pocket digital camera, the image quality probably won’t differ as much to these action cameras.
AKASO Brave 4 and EK7000 Pro Design
In a glance, side by side the two are not very far apart from each other and similar to most action cameras out there, the two are compact, plasticky, and seem well made. The body itself is not the best but feels robust and seems decent. The Brave 4K however, has a small display at the front while EK7000 is kept simple with only textured finish and a red list around the lens housing, making the camera stand out, right out of the box. Similarly, the power button is placed on the front side.
Flipping the camera, their sidewalls are also the same, with texture but have different patterns and on the right panel you can find some buttons to navigate the menu or using the camera. At the back there is a 2-inch display with touch screen function which is quite responsive and easy to use but it is too small for comfort. The ports are located on the left side and the bottom is where you can find their battery compartment. Microphone itself is on the right side of these cameras.
AKASO Brave 4 and EK7000 Pro Specification
Now let’s move to what’s important which is the camera specification and as it has been mentioned above, the AKASO Brave 4 and EK7000 Pro are capable of capturing 4K video but do note that it is interpolated and as you can expect, the maximum frame rates for the highest recording setting is only 25 fps while the most common 1080p which you can choose as well is adjustable at 30 or 60fps. They seem to use different pixel rates at 20 and 16MP for image capturing function but this is interpolated as well.
Another similarity is for the wide angle as the two are boasting the ability to capture more of your scenery by offering 170 degree view. But, if it is not needed then we can use the more common narrow view at 70, 110, or 140 degrees.
AKASO Brave 4 and EK7000 Pro Image Quality
For the image quality, we do think AKASO Brave 4 and EK7000 Pro are about the same to each other and they are capturing similar video or image. At 4K settings, the footage is jittery as there is no image stabilization in this setting and since the frame rates are slower, they don’t look smooth either. But, when shifting to 1080p at 60fps, we can start to see why many people are liking these cameras as they do look good.
Of course due to the low sensor quality you will be better viewing them with a small screen as noises and lack of details are going to be prominent as you zoom on. Under bright daylight, the two are impressive and look good but side by side while being overexposed and overly saturated, you may see a slightly sharper image and the color also pops out more on Bravo 4. For the recording function however, their image stabilization is still far from keeping the footage pleasant and still has that bit of shakiness.
AKASO Brave 4 and EK7000 Pro Experience
On the user experience, besides the affordable price we love how everything is included when you buy AKASO Brave 4 and EK7000 Pro. There are casing and attachments in the box which makes them even more convenient as an option for digital cameras. They are not the best however and most ideal when watched on a smaller screen to prevent seeing the grainy details. In comparison to GoPro, they are lacking but in comparison to each other, the Brave 4 is giving a more prominent color and probably looks better for most people.
AKASO Brave 4 VS Ek7000 Pro
These cameras are really impressive for the price point and the image quality is also decent for typical daily use. They are not the best for action however as the image stabilization is not very reliable and side by side, the difference is not prominent too except for the color. The two are over saturated but these what most people like as the color pops out and looks bright yet, they also lack detail.
Overall the two are great options and they are pretty much the same to each other as well. In our opinion both cameras are equally good but we recommend the Brave 4 for the slight pop in color and a small display to view recording information.
