Affordable Action Camera

There are lots of new devices that we can find today both for fun and for productivity. You can spend quite a lot for them as well in order to receive the best performance and result but it is wise to match it with what you want to achieve. Action camera is one of the newest devices that was hyped a lot back then but while it is not as popular as it used to be, the functionality is still very much the same which is boasting the convenience.

When it comes to cameras, their image quality will be the most important whether it is the one in your smartphone or those we have attached in the vehicle. For action cameras the typical quality is how high their resolution and how fast they can record since slow motion is a popular footage that can show a mesmerizing activity and when the camera is able to record fast footage they will look much smoother too. While on paper many are very similar, they will most likely be different in action.

Action cameras are offered by quite a lot of brands and manufacturers so you can choose to buy any of them that seems to work best in the application. At first they are only available on the higher range or expensive options but as the device is getting more recognition, more people want to have one as well; this is why you can find tons of great alternatives in the market. When choosing for the alternative, make sure that it has the resolution and recording ability that you want.

Affordable action cameras usually have a lower resolution and are not as reliable when it comes to image stabilization. These are areas where they are often not as good as the named brands like GoPro or DJI and similar cameras. The lower resolution means less details and blurry images too, especially for shooting moving objects or while you are in motion. In addition their build is often not waterproof means the case needs to be always attached if you are doing anything related with water.

While in general the affordable options will be often lower than typical popular options, not all of them are the same. If you are willing to spend some time we are sure there are lots of capable alternatives with a more reliable recording performance. They may be lacking in some of the most advanced features but we do think they are still useful and overall helpful for more casual activities or even for sharing purposes.

About AKASO Brave 7 LE and GoPro Hero 8

The choice is all yours whether to stick with popular options or their alternatives since not all of us will have the same focus and the same activity that probably require a certain minimum quality or features. Named brands are usually the easiest choice yet their price range makes alternatives more attractive, moreover the affordable options nowadays are getting better too. In most cases we will be scarifying some ability or features by getting the alternative.

You can choose any brands that you trust the most or which of them will have the best choice according to your need. AKASO and GoPro are like alternatives and the main option because the latter is what popularized this device as well so there are still many of us who prefer to call an action camera as GoPro even when it comes from another brand. They have a good reputation of offering great cameras, renewing it to be better yet also quite expensive for non-professional.

This is why AKASO and so many other brands are carrying lots of cheaper cameras in the catalog to give buyers another option to decide. AKASO Brave 7 LE and GoPro Hero 8 are almost like an alternative to each other because the two are good cameras but for different types of users. The first camera is almost half of the second’s price so it is not surprising if you want to spend less as well, especially if they have the same ability.

What makes Brave 7 LE different from other cheaper alternatives such as AKASO V50X Vs Brave 6 is because this camera can record underwater even without the waterproof casing which means the housing is natively waterproof, the same with Hero 8 and many other GoPro cameras. In terms of recording ability, the AKASO Brave 7 LE and GoPro Hero 8 are capable of shooting 4K footage so if you are going to use this resolution for most of your task, the two are ideal choices to consider.

AKASO Brave 7 LE and GoPro Hero 8 Design

Before moving further, let’s see the camera first because even from the unit the two are already very interesting, especially the Brave 7 LE. This camera is quite unique for its price point because as you can see, there is a small display at the front, next to the lens housing. On the other hand Hero 8 only have a simple screen at the front and in addition they also have different lens cover, round versus rectangular.

As for the build quality, they feel robust along with almost identical form factor but the best part is probably how they are natively waterproof which is very rare outside the flagship products so Brave 7 LE having it is interesting. Both cameras are also featured with a decent rear display to access the recording function and menu. They are responsive, easy to use, as well as convenient just like most action cameras out there.

AKASO Brave 7 LE and GoPro Hero 8 Specs

Now for the most important part, let’s see what the AKASO Brave 7 LE and GoPro Hero 8 can offer starting from the basics. For starters they are able to record 4K UHD footage but at different frame rates because the Hero 8 is already topping 60fps instead of 30fps for this higher resolution, meaning it is more suitable in capturing fast moving objects, to make the footage looks smoother. The native resolution of both cameras are also different at 20MP and 12MP but this resolution alone is not enough to tell the overall quality.

AKASO Brave 7 LE and GoPro Hero 8 Image Quality

Next let’s talk about the actual image quality of these cameras because they are not looking like each other at all. Side by side the colors are what makes the two easily separated. If you see the Hero 8 footage, the color is more lively here, especially when it comes to skin tone. The color of skin looks more natural here while AKASO makes our face slightly paler than it is. In addition we do think Hero 8 also deals with lighting better than Brave 7 LE.

In comparison the sky looks bluer and brighter but details are kept really well if you are zooming into the footage and this is quite noticeable even from a small screen. Overall we see the Brave 7 LE has a muted color profile which can be better for some and you can edit it later too if needed to tweak the result as needed but out of the camera we personally like Hero 8 better. Additionally, the Hero 8 seems to have a wider angle compared to Brave 7 LE so it captures more from the scenery.

AKASO Brave 7 LE and GoPro Hero 8 Image Stabilization

Lastly we want to talk about AKASO Brave 7 LE and GoPro Hero 8 image stabilization which is very important in recording good footage. AKASO has one of the best image stabilization among other similar alternatives but they are not able to compete with GoPro yet. In comparison, it is not bad at all, the stabilizer works well but you can still feel the slight jitter and shakiness on the result while Hero 8 almost looks like if you have installed a gimbal with the camera.

GoPro is incredibly smooth, there is no shakiness or jitter as well as it doesn’t crop the image too much, probably because it has a wide angle too. Overall the Brave 7 LE is good but the Hero 8 is better to justify the price difference.

Akaso Brave 7 Le vs Gopro Hero 8

These are just the basic comparison between the two since Hero 8 have more features for shooting too such as TimeWarp and LiveBurst. The image quality also looks more prominent, cleaner, and sharper even when they are recording at the same resolution. You will get better detail, especially in a shadowy area with less noise showing up. The image stabilization of Brave 7 LE is great for its price point yet still not to the extent of GoPro’s stabilization.
